1.How does a grid inverter work?
Grid-tie inverters convert changing DC solar energy and feed it into the grid. It synchronizes frequency and output voltage to the grid to which it is connected. When solar energy increases, the inverter output also increases, which is injected into the grid.
2.What is a grid-connected inverter?
Grid-tied means your solar system is tied to the local utility company's grid. This is what most homes will use because you are protected if your solar system under- or over-produces based on your changing energy needs. What all this means to you is that your utility system acts as your battery space.
3.Are grid-connected inverters really useful?
Most grid-tie inverters on the market have peak efficiencies in excess of 94%, some as high as 96%. Most of the energy lost during inversion is converted into heat. Therefore, for an inverter to output its rated power, it must have a power input that exceeds its output.
